A successful 2 day workshop conducted by Madras Youth Choir on Indian Choral Music for the city music teachers. Around 10 schools & 20 music teachers participated in this workshop. It was well received by the participants.

MYC was invited by Sangeet Natak Akademi to perform at Mumbai Shanmukhananda Hall on 18th September, for the centenary celebrations of Dr M S Subbulakshmi. MYC paid homage to MS on her centenary and also our founder MBS for his birthday on 19th September.

MYC’s General Body meeting held on 10.07.2016 Madras Youth Choir is happy and privileged to be a part of the TVSA’s annual choral music workshop. This year’s workshop was held on the 25th and 26th of July 2016, conducted by D Ramachandran, Latha Unnikrishnan, Preethi Sriram and Sruthi Unnikrishnan.

Madras Youth Choir’s summer camp for kids started off on a cheerful note on 18th April at Shraddha in T. Nagar. There were close to a dozen kids who thoroughly enjoyed the session. The kids learnt to sing ‘Amma porandha veettule ammaanai aaduvom’, a song on traditional games, written and composed by MYC’s VP D. Ramachandran. In addition, our instructors taught the kids to play traditional games such as pallanguzhi, ammanai, and kannamoochi. It was held till the 25th of April, 2016.
Madras Youth Choir is conducting separate choir singing workshops for adults and kids every Sunday in May 2016. The sessions will be conducted at Children’s Garden School, Mylapore. Parents can attend the workshop without worrying about their kids. Because they will be in a music workshop, too. Happy singing! Session dates: 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th May, 2016.

Vidya Mandir, Mylapore invited Madras Youth Choir to conduct a Choral Music workshop for its students on 12th January, 2015 at their school premises. Shri P.C. Ramakrishna, a senior member conducted this workshop and also taught them a Bengali song composed by Gurudev Tagore.
